Rocking.gr in Italy's Gods Of Metal

23/05/2012 @ 14:32
Summer is drowing near and it's time for the summer festivals all around Europe.

Since 2006 Rocking.gr has covered many festivals in Europe, such as Greenfield Festival, Download Festival (part2) (part3) and this year along with Download, Pinkpop and Sofia festival, Rocking.gr will also report from one of the biggest rock/metal Europe festivals, Italy's Gods Of Metal, which will be held on 21, 22, 23 and 24 of June at Arena Fiera, Rho.

With fans from all over the world, Gods Of Metal is promising something unique for each Day.

In June 21st the headliners will be no others than Manowar, who will celebrate the release of their long-awaited 12th studio album, "The Lord Of Steel", which will be released worldwide on June 16, and also the 10th anniversary of their hit album, "Warriors Of The World". Before Manowar, the stage will be taken by Children Of Bodom, Amon Amarth, Unisonic, Cannibal Corpse, Holyhell, Adrenaline Mob, Arthemis and Clairvoyants, where the special attention will be drawn by Unisonic, the great return of Michael Kiske and Kai Hansen.

June 22st will be the return of Guns N' Roses to Gods Of Metal since 2006. With a greatest hits setlist with songs such as "Estranged" and "Civil War" for first time in Europe since 1993 and a show that will last over 2,5 hours, Guns N' Roses are promising a killer show. Before Guns N' Roses, we'll have appearances by Within Temptation, Sebastian Bach, Killswitch Engage, Black Stone Cherry, Rival Sons, Soulfly, Ugly Kid Joe, AxeWound and Cancer Bats. Let's hope that Axl and Sebastian Bach will perform again the following:

June 23st will bring Motley Crue once again in Europe, just a few days before the co-headlining tour with Kiss in the US. Everybody has heard the song "Kickstart My Heart". But how many know that the song was written by Nikki Sixx about his infamous overdose in which he was declared clinically dead before being revived by two adrenaline shots to the heart. The overdose was back in 1987 when Guns N' Roses and Mötley Crüe toured together. While the overdose took place in Guns N' Roses guitarist Slash's hotel room, Slash actually had nothing to do with Sixx's overdose; Slash's girlfriend got Sixx the help he needed. Just before Motley Crue, Slash will play on the same stage along with The Darkness, Gotthard, Hardcore Superstar, Black Veil Brides, Lizzy Borden and Planethard. This will be a rare and unique opportunity to enjoy! Not to be missed!

The festival's final day (June 24th) was originally arranged around the appearance of the reunited Black Sabbath -who late last year confirmed the recording of their first new album in more than 33 years and a worldwide headlining tour. However, Black Sabbath have had to put some plans on hold due to Tony Iommi's battle with lymphoma. Tony unfortunately won't be able to tour and deserves all our sympathy and our deepest love, wishing him a speedy recovery. Ozzy Osbourne will now perform the majority of the previously scheduled Black Sabbath dates billed as Ozzy & Friends. These 'first ever' Ozzy & Friends shows will feature appearances by 'special guest' musicians, including Geezer Butler (who will join Ozzy for a special Black Sabbath set as a show of respect and support to their friend, Tony Iommi) and longtime former Ozzy band member, Zakk Wylde. In addition, Ozzy will be accompanied by longtime collaborator and friend, Slash, at selected shows, with other 'special guests' set to join the tour at various stops along the way. Before Ozzy & Friends, the stage will be taken by Opeth, Lamb Of God, Trivium, DevilDriver, August Burns Red, Kobra And The Lotus and I Killed the Prom Queen, but everybody will be waiting for the 'Prince Of Darkness' to appear.

More specifically, the Gods Of Metal's lineup for 2012 will be the following:
