Mortiis - "Ånden som gjorde opprør" 1st ever Era 1 Athens Show

21 Απριλίου στις 8:30 μ.μ.

Mortiis (Nor) is coming to Athens to do the amazing reworked "Ånden som gjorde opprør" show, that will also be the first ever Era 1 show in Greece!

After Mortiis left Emperor, the Norwegian black metal band he was part of starting, in late 1992, he started Mortiis as a solo project, and released a number of solo records between 1993 and 1999.

Reinvented as a proper band, Mortiis released The Smell of Rain in 2001. Followed by The Grudge in 2004, and the remix record Some Kind of Heroin in 2006.

Disenfranchised with the brutality and hypocrisy of the record industry, Mortiis did not release a new album untill 2010, when the band self released the album ”Perfectly Defect” – as a limited edition CD, and as a free download thrugh their own website.

The next record, The Great Deceiver, was completed around 2013, but did not see the light of day, until 2016 due mostly to events beyond the band´s control. Mortiis´ personal mental health being one of them.

The Great Deceiver was finally released in March 2016.

In the fall of 2016 work started on remixing The Great Deceiver. The result was “The Great Corrupter” and features over 20 reworks/remixes of material from The Great Deceiver, by artists as diverse as Godflesh, Die Krupps. In Slaughter Natives, Godflesh, Chris Vrenna, John Fryer, Prurient, Apoptygma Berzerk, PIG, and many more. Release date has been set to April 21st 2017.

Mortiis has toured fairly consistently for the past 15 years, and has shared the stage with a variety of artists and bands spanning genres ranging from black metal, to punk to industrial and EBM. Some of the bands Mortiis has toured with are Danzig, Behemoth, Apoptygma Berzerk, Combichrist, Christian Death, Mushroomhead, The Genitorturers, Deathstars, etc.

Mortiis has recently made a "return" to the Era 1 style of music, and starting in November with the "Cold Meat Industry" and "Messe des Morts" festivals, will perform a solo "2018 reinterpretation" of the 1994 album "Ånden som Gjorde Opprør", on Saturday 21st of April, 2018 in Athens.

“I don’t just want to do the record as it was back in 1994, but rather excavate it from 1994 and drag it into the new light of the current world, while retaining the atmosphere of the original sound,” said Mortiis.

Support acts:

Lamia Vox (Rus):

Throughout recent years Lamia Vox has become quite a well known on the Dark Ambient scene. Her music, though dwelling in the realm of Dark ambient, is enriched with exquisite neo classical and ritual elements alchemically combining each other create absolutely unique otherworldly melodism. It is really an audio witchcraft. She remembers, she knows, she has always been there. Hardly ever one can leave the venue after her performance without some sweet but such a sinful feeling, intoxicated by closeness of Abyss which decided not to devour you this time. Feminine and dark, attractive, this music if definitely for those who steel is alive. This project is often compared with golden Cold Meat Industry releases, but that is only and solely in terms of dedication and quality of work.

Treha Sektori (Fr):

Treha Sektori - it's not just music. It's dark, intense mystical atmosphere, whispering in an unknown language, ritual drums, and more. Behind all this is a musician named Dan Sora, a Frenchman by birth. Besides the main activity, Dan draws covers for albums by other artists and groups. Also, he often appeared on stage with Amenra, opening for legendary Neurosis.
The exact date of the formation Treha Sektori as such, no, because the composition of music began spontaneously. And the whole record albums resolves spontaneously Dan sits down and writes music specifically, it all comes from somewhere else. But before the composition will appear on the hearing at a wide audience, it passes reusable process by which Dehn Sora achieves perfect results.

The first creation of the musician came out in 2009 and was called "Sorieh". Opus released by Parisian label Kaosthetik Konspiration, Canadian same label Cyclic Law released a full-length album on vinyl media.

Quote (stigmata.name) Listening to "Sorieh" after sunset even unaccompanied listening expanders of consciousness is capable in an experimental music lover cause seizures unwarranted paranoia and increased well-healed phobias: heavy, sticky like honey, darkness envelops the room, strange voices begin to whisper strange messages pulsating low hum suddenly pierces the thrill of strings …

The second work is called Dan "Endessiah". Opus was released in 2012, a Canadian firm Cyclic Law as a CD, and on vinyl. The album turned even more grim, dark and deep. A year later, the musician shot clip for the song "Ah Estereh Komh Derah", that in the ritual, and in general in all ambient, very rare.

Quote (restart.org.ru) It turns out that this is a deeply personal album confession of religious doubt, faltering faith and self-negation, but at the same time intuitive depiction of the universal, human drudgery, endless torments of the soul the sins of the past and the thirst of death as salvation.

Dehn Sora is know for his graphic work (Ulver, Blut Aus Nord, Manes,…), member of Church Of Ra, part of Sembler Deah, Ovtrenoir and Throane.
